Summary
Photograph of eight young men in rowing skiff being held in position against landing stage by men holding the oars. The rowers wear jackets with braiding and metal buttons, large pale ties and boaters with names on the hat bands (too faded to read). The Hon. Gerald Agar-Robartes, later 7th Viscount Clifden, 1883-1966, is in the bows on the right. Another team of rowers stands on the landing stage with oars held upright. The far bank is covered with spectators, buildings behind and Windsor Castle on the far left, and there are several boats with spectators and another with three men, one standing, looking across to the oarsmen. Contained in a rectangular dark red leather album with gold shield on front and gold letters 'F.G.A.-R./1896-1902'.
Provenance
This album belonged to the Hon. Gerald Agar-Robartes, 7th Viscount Clifden, who gave Lanhydrock to the National Trust in 1953.
