Summary

Formal photograph of forty eight boys and young men with seven trophies on a table and on the ground. The eight youngest boys are sitting on the ground with ten young men on chairs and benches behind; the rest are standing. The Hon. Tommy Agar-Robartes, later Captain the Hon. Tommy Agar-Robartes, M.P., 1880-1915, is seated third from right and his brother, the Hon. Gerald Agar-Robartes, later 7th Viscount Clifden, 1883-1966, is in the back row, third from left. E.G. St. Aubyn is seated on the right of the table, with E.G. Martin and W.H.P. Lewis seated on the far right. See also LAN.PH.1499.4. Trees and a wall behind with a building visible. Contained in a red leather album with gold shield on front with motto 'Floreat Etona' and gold letters 'T.C.A.-R./1894-1899'. c.1898

Provenance

This photograph album belonged to the Hon. Tommy Agar-Robartes, later Captain the Hon. Tommy Agar-Robartes, M.P., 1880-1915, whilst he was at Eton and was a gift from the Hon. Gerald Agar-Robartes, 7th Viscount Clifden, who gave Lanhydrock to the National Trust in 1953.
