Summary
Photograph of an open carriage drawn by horse, standing outside the entrance of a large ivy clad building. The carriage is piled with trunks with two young men sitting on the back seat. The driver could possibly be the Hon. Tommy Agar-Robartes, later Captain the Hon. Tommy Agar-Robartes, 1880-1915, wearing a false beard. Two other young men are hidden by the carriage. c.1899 See also LAN.D.168. Contained in a red leather album with gold shield on front with motto 'Floreat Etona' and gold letters 'T.C.A.-R./1894-1899'.
Provenance
This photograph album belonged to the Hon. Tommy Agar-Robartes, later Captain the Hon. Tommy Agar-Robartes, M.P., 1880-1915, whilst he was at Eton and was a gift from the Hon. Gerald Agar-Robartes, 7th Viscount Clifden, who gave Lanhydrock to the National Trust in 1953.
