Summary
Photograph of two women in a carriage drawn by two light coloured horses, and driven by one of the women who wears dark coat. A groom in top hat stands at the horses' heads and two other men, one with hat, stand in the large pillared entrance porch of Kingweston, home of the Dickinson family. Three sash windows visible on the right. Contained in small brown leather album with two ornate brass clasps and a small brass shield on front with three engraved initials, SCD. c.1861 (possibly Sophia Dickinson)
Provenance
A gift from the Hon. Gerald Agar-Robartes, 7th Viscount Clifden, who gave Lanhydrock to the National Trust in 1953. This album and photographs belonged to the Dickinson family; Mary Dickinson, 1853-1921, marrying the Hon. Thomas Charles Agar-Robartes, later 6th Viscount Clifden, 1844-1921.
