Summary
Studio photograph, full length, of a young woman, a Dickinson? see also LAN.PH.1493.33/34, wearing a dark crinoline and necklace of large, dark beads, her head towards the camera. Both hands rest on books in front of her, in a pile on a piece of furniture draped with cloth. Painted pattern as background. Diamond paned window on right of photograph. Contained in small brown leather album with two ornate brass clasps and a small brass shield on front with three engraved initials, SCD. 1861 (possibly Sophia Dickinson)
Provenance
A gift from the Hon. Gerald Agar-Robartes, 7th Viscount Clifden, who gave Lanhydrock to the National Trust in 1953. This album and photographs belonged to the Dickinson family; Mary Dickinson, 1853-1921, marrying the Hon. Thomas Charles Agar-Robartes, later 6th Viscount Clifden, 1844-1921.
