Summary
Studio photograph, full length, of a woman wearing crinoline with ruching on sleeves, a scalloped hem and buttons down front. Her hands are clasped and her left arm rests on the back of an upholstered and carved arm chair. Painted mirror on the right of the photograph. Plain wall and patterned floor. Contained in small brown leather album with two ornate brass clasps and a small brass shield on front with three engraved initials, SCD. 1861 (possibly Sophia Dickinson)
Provenance
A gift from the Hon. Gerald Agar-Robartes, 7th Viscount Clifden, who gave Lanhydrock to the National Trust in 1953. This album and photographs belonged to the Dickinson family; Mary Dickinson, 1853-1921, marrying the Hon. Thomas Charles Agar-Robartes, later 6th Viscount Clifden, 1844-1921.
