Summary
Studio photograph, full length, of a bearded man in uniform. He holds a cap/shako in is left hand and holds the muzzle of a rifle with his right hand, the butt resting on the floor. Plain wall and floor, with narrow skirting board. Base of a head clamp stand visible behind his feet. Contained in small brown leather album with two ornate brass clasps and a small brass shield on front with three engraved initials, SCD. c.1861 (possibly Sophia Dickinson)
Provenance
A gift from the Hon. Gerald Agar-Robartes, 7th Viscount Clifden, who gave Lanhydrock to the National Trust in 1953. This album and photographs belonged to the Dickinson family; Mary Dickinson, 1853-1921, marrying the Hon. Thomas Charles Agar-Robartes, later 6th Viscount Clifden, 1844-1921.
