Summary
Studio photograph, full length, of a man seated on a carved and turned chair. He wears a long dark jacket, fastened, and dark trousers and has his right leg crossed over his left. Both hands hold a book on his lap. Small octagonal table on the left of the photograph. Plain background, draped curtain and patterned carpet. Contained in small brown leather album with two ornate brass clasps and a small brass shield on front with three engraved initials, SCD. c.1861 (possibly Sophia Dickinson)
Provenance
A gift from the Hon. Gerald Agar-Robartes, 7th Viscount Clifden, who gave Lanhydrock to the National Trust in 1953. This album and photographs belonged to the Dickinson family; Mary Dickinson, 1853-1921, marrying the Hon. Thomas Charles Agar-Robartes, later 6th Viscount Clifden, 1844-1921.
