Summary
Studio photograph of a young woman, Mary Dickinson, later Viscountess Clifden, 1853-1921, seated on chair next to a carved table covered with cloth on which is a basket of flowers and a book. She is wearing a dark satin dress with folds and bow down front and a ruffled hem and cuffs. Her right arm rests on the table and her left hand rests in her lap holding a flower. Painted background and patterned carpet, a chair with barley-twist legs on the right. c.1878 Contained in a dark green leather photograph album with embossed design on front and back, containing twenty four pages, forty eight sides, with slip-in sections and gold printed borders.
Provenance
This album was a gift from the Hon. Gerald Agar-Robartes, 7th Viscount Clifden, who gave Lanhydrock to the National Trust in 1953.
