Photograph looking up to the Excelsior Hotel in Nice, showing a very large six-storey building with towers, a garden with palms in front, a balustraded wall with steps leading up from road to ornate gateway. Found loose in a tan leather photograph album with gold and dark brown criss-cross tooling on cover, now in Box 28. c.1900 See also LAN.PH.1487.18
Provenance
A gift from the Hon. Gerald Agar-Robartes, 7th Viscount Clifden, 1883-1966, who gave Lanhydrock to the National Trust in 1953, and continued to live there with his sisters, Everilda and Violet, until his death in 1966. The family stayed at the Hotel du Cap Martin in Menton in 1914 from the end of February until mid April.
