Summary
Photograph of a narrow street, Rue de la Conception, in Menton with stepped cobbles leading up towards a church. Tall buildings on both sides. One woman in hat sitting on donkey with panniers in centre of photograph, another woman leaning out of a first floor window on right and a child just in the photograph bottom right. Contained in a red leather photograph album with gold tooling on spine and front cover. c.1895
Provenance
A gift from the Hon. Gerald Agar-Robartes, 7th Viscount Clifden, 1883-1966, who gave Lanhydrock to the National Trust in 1953, and continued to live there with his sisters, Everilda and Violet, until his death in 1966. The family stayed at the Hotel du Cap Martin in Menton in 1914 from the end of February until mid April.
