Summary
A photograph of Hester Coad and three of her children in a garden. The woman, who is hatless, wears a dark skirt and light coloured blouse and it sitting on a chair with a bare-footed baby on her lap. Leaning against her on her right is a young girl with short dark hair and fringe who is holding a large soft hat in her right hand. The other child stands with her right hand on the baby's left leg and wears a pinafore over long-sleeved blouse and leather boots. She has a large hat on the back of her head. Shrubs behind with plant in pot on the right hand side, wire netting containing the planting on the left. Contained in an olive green Kodak photograph album containing family photographs, c.1898
Provenance
A gift from the Hon. Gerald Agar-Robartes, 7th Viscount Clifden, 1883-1966, who gave the house to the National Trust in 1953 and continued to live there until his death.
