Summary
A photograph of a woman, Hester, wife of Marwood Coad, sitting holding a baby, Wilfred, on her lap. On her right is a little girl, Margaret, with her arm raised shielding her face from the sun, and on her left is another little girl, Alice Elizabeth, with her eyes closed, and two young boys, Victor, standing, and Raymond on a stool, both also affected by the sun. Both girls are wearing pale frilled bonnets, pale dresses and dark short socks and shoes; the boys wear pale shirts, dark shorts and tights. The shadow of the hat of the photographer is visible in the foreground. See also 886548. One of thirteen modern photographs developed from a previously unseen roll of film taken circa 1897, found in the attics at Lanhydrock 2007.
Provenance
