Summary
Ceremonial cloak - Red velvet and ermine robe/cloak worn by the 6th Viscount Clifden at the Coronation of King George V and Queen Mary on the 22nd June 1911. Red velvet ground with white fur trim along centre front opening and ermine capelet and collar stitched to velvet, cream satin ribbon ties at collar. Cream silk lining covered with a new lining applied over 30 years ago. A gift from the 8th Viscount Clifden and sent down to Lanhydrock from Highclere, Surrey, 1974, together with Duke of Cornwall's stick (which had been handed to the 8th Viscount at a ceremony in Launceston) and a pair of wall sconces which used to be in the End Room at Lanhydrock (See letter to Ann Williams from Michael Trinick dated 8.4.1974)
Provenance
A gift from the 8th Viscount Clifden and sent down to Lanhydrock from Highclere, Surrey, 1974, together with Duke of Cornwall's stick (which had been handed to the 8th Viscount at a ceremony in Launceston) and a pair of wall sconces which used to be in the End Room at Lanhydrock (See letter to Ann Williams from Michael Trinick dated 8.4.1974)
