19th Century French automaton being a Jumeau dressed doll wearing pink jacket with lace trim and beaded decoration and a lace skirt, standing and playing a piano. Made by Gustaf Vichy, Paris. The musical box plays four different aires which are listed on card behind piano back hanging)
Provenance
A gift from the Hon. Gerald Agar-Robartes, later 7th Viscount Clifden, 1883-1966, when he gave Lanhydrock to the National Trust in 1953. He continued to live in the house with his two sisters, Everilda (Eva) and Violet, until his death in 1966.
