Purchased by G.M. Trinick from Sotherby's sale on 31st March 1977. An extract from Sotherby's sale catalogue, 'Sold with a letter from Kathleen Ferrier to Miss Lushington describing the lyre as by Byrne Jones. No designs have been traced similar to this lyre nor is it represented in any of Byrne Jones' paintings.'
