Summary
A circular brass 4 oz weight. One of a set of 8 weights for a late Victorian brass postal scale with eight weights; 2 x 4 lb are in recesses in the wooden base either side of ivory labels, the writing worn off, and in a pile in centre in front of the labels are six weights, 2 lb, 1 lb, 8 oz, 4 oz, 2 oz and 1 oz (theft of smallest two original weights in April 2000, but a 2 oz weight added in 2001 from store and a 1 oz weight given 2012).
Provenance
a gift from Victor Agar-Robartes, 8th Viscount Clifden, after the death of his sister, Everilda, in 1969. He did not wish to live at Lanhydrock so those items not already given by the 7th Viscount Clifden were either sold or acquired by the Trust.
