Summary
Brown leather writing case with strap and green leather interior and six pockets and pencil keeper; containing folded paper map, being a secret machine gun barrage map relating to the British Guards Division attack across the Ypres - Comines Canal at Boeshinge, Belgium, on the 31st July1917, (LAN.MA.12). Originally discovered with the contents of a dressing case belonging to Captain The Hon. Thomas (Tommy) Agar-Robartes (LAN.L.131) which was sent back from France after his death in 1915.
Provenance
This case was used by, and possibly belonged to, the Hon. Victor Agar-Robartes, but was part of the contents of Captain The Hon. Thomas (Tommy) Agar-Robartes's dressing case (LAN.L.131) which was sent back from France after his death following the battle of Loos, September 1915.
