Summary
Eight-day tavern clock in mahogany case, signed by Webb & Son, Newport, c.1800 Single train, weight-driven, four-pillar movement with dead beat pin-wheel escapement and wood rod pendulum. Convex, white painted dial with roman numerals,signed in the dial centre: “Webb & Son, Newport”. Steel hands, the minute hand with counterpoised tail. The mahogany case has a door in trunk and base and a cast brass convex bezel with convex glass over the dial.
