Summary
Thormometer - Serpentine obelisk with hieroglyphs as on Cleopatra's Needle, fitted with a Negretti and Zamba thermometer. The obelisk has several cracks and four holes where the thermometer has been moved. There is also an indentation where the base of the thermometer would have originally been, now hidden.
Provenance
Shown in a photograph of the Smoking Room taken by John Bethell in 1973, the obelisk came to Lanhydrock via the Treasurer's House in Martock, having been made in factory at Poltesco c.1800
