Summary
Three page commemorative card for the Launch of H.M.S. Lion, the cover with photographs of Vice Admiral C.H. Cross and A.E. Richards, Esq., with watercolour of a lion by F.R. Poole. Inside are naval scenes, one of the modern H.M.S. Lion, one of a scene on the deck of a man of war, 18th Century, with four lions and a double page scene showing H.M.S. Lion from 1536-1910. On the back is the Clifden coat of arms; part of contents of a carved oak presentation casket.
Provenance
Presented to Viscountess Clifden following the launching of the HMS Lion on the 6th August 1910 at Devonport Dockyard. Later given to the National Trust by The Hon. Gerald Agar-Robartes, 7th Viscount Clifden.
