Summary
Photograph, Mary Dickinson, Viscountess Clifden of Gowran (1853-1921) dressed for the Coronation by Lafayette (Lafayette Ltd) (1880-). Tinted black and white family photograph of Viscountess Clifden dressed in the robes worn for the Coronation of King Edward VII; she stands with gloves and fan in her right hand and a painted scene behind with gilt chair to her right. Also listed under LAN.PH.5294 as all photographs have individual PH inventory numbers. Handcoloured photograph (D.O.P.) mounted on an off-white mount board. There is a plate mark on the mount around the photograph. There is a blind stamp of an emblem on the lower border. "Sally Clifden" "22345a" and "1626" are written in pencil on the back of the mount. There is a torn strip of brown paper attached to the edge of the mount. There is a wooden board in two pieces behind the mount. the frame is wood with ornate gilt decoration. There is a strawboard backboard and this is covered with blue cloth. There is pencil writing on the inside of the backboard. The hinged support is missing but there are two strips of green cloth glued to the inside of the backboard where the hinge was attached. The photograph is signed in pencil "Lafayette London". - SC 2003.
