A very royal Christmas card. Sometimes photographs are used as Christmas cards. This one of Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother, was used to wish someone 'Best Wishes for Christmas and the New Year, From Elizabeth R.'
Summary
Photograph - Framed and signed colour royal photograph of Princess Margaret, standing to the left of the photograph and Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother, seated, with five page boys standing behind. Signed Elizabeth R and used as a Christmas card in 1954. Print process? (colour) mounted on an off white mount board. There is a plate mark on the mount around the photograph. There is a strip of additional facing paper in the lower border of the mount. On this is printed "With best wishes for Christmas and the New Year". "1954" "from Elizabeth R" is hand written in ink. The mounted photograph is in a gilt frame. there is a piece of off-white mount board behind the mounted photograph. There is a mountboard backboard which has a surface layer with a printed woodgrain effect design. This has a hinged support of similar material attached with a brass hinge. - SC 2003.
