Photograph - Framed photograph of the Agar-Robartes family taken in front of a large trellised wall at Wardhouse, Aberdeenshire. c.1903. The Hon. Tommy Agar-Robartes, later Captain the Hon. Tommy Agar Robartes, M.P.,1880-1915, the Hon. Victor Agar-Robartes, later 8th Viscount Clifden, 1887-1974, the Hon. Mary Vere Agar-Robartes, later the Hon. Mrs. Yarde-Buller, 1879-1946, an unknown man, possibly a member of the Gordon family, and the Hon. Gerald Agar-Robartes, later 7th Viscount Clifden, 1883-1966, standing behind, the Hon. Everilda Agar-Robartes, 1880-1969, the Hon. Thomas Charles Agar-Robartes, later 6th Viscount Clifden, 1844-1930, and his wife, Mary Dickinson, later Viscountess Clifden, 1853-1921,seated, with the remaining four seated on the ground, left to right, the Hon. Cecil Agar-Robartes 1892-1939, the Hon. Violet Agar-Robartes, 1888-1965, the Hon. Alexander Agar-Robartes, 1895-1930, and the Hon. Constance Agar-Robartes, 1890-1936. Everilda has a terrier on her lap and holds another dog, a spaniel. Photograph numbered LAN.PH.5027 as all photographs have individual PH numbers. Frame, green and gilt and similar to others in the house, in poor condition.
Provenance
Given by the Hon. Gerald Agar-Robartes, 7th Viscount Clifden, who gave Lanhydrock to the National in 1953 and remained living there until his death in 1966. Wardhouse, Aberdeenshire, belonged to the Gordon family and there are many photographs relating to family visits to this property.
