Summary
Watercolour on paper, H.M.S.Lion by Ernest Harrington. c.1910 (See also inside lid of carved casket relating to the ship's launch, LAN.F.361). HMS Lion was a battlecruiser of the Royal Navy, the lead ship of her class, which were nicknamed the "Splendid Cats". She was launched 6th August, 1910.
Provenance
Acquired during transfer of the house to the National Trust in 1953. HMS Lion was launched by Lady Robartes on the 6th August 1910, and the presentation box containing the mallet, chisel, rope and another watercolour by Ernest Harrington on the inside of the lid, is also in Lady Robartes's Room. (Box at present on display in Museum 2015 - )
