Summary

A framed and mounted black and white group photograph of twenty six members of the Bullingon Club, including the the Hon.Thomas Charles Reginald Agar-Robartes (1880-1915) and the Hon. Francis Gerald Agar-Robartes, later 7th Viscount Clifden, 1883-1966, wearing evening dress in 1903. The photograph has been coloured and all bow ties are blue, cummerbunds yellow, the flower boxes red white and blue and a carpet red. The names of members are written below the photograph. From left to right, back row, F.P.Green, J. Fitz. G.Bannatyne. J.Egerton-Warburton, The Hon Robert William Hugh O'Neill, later 1st Baron Rathcavan (1883-1982). H.M. Stobart, H.C.Meredith, J.B.Foster, Visct.Turnour; third row, W.L.A.Goulding Hon.G.V.A.Monckton-Arundell. Second row, C.A.C.Sandeman. Hon. F.G.Agar-Robartes, O.S.Orr R.A.Brassey, W.H.Pearson. Front row, C. Mayer Hon. E. Wood, Hon. N.Primrose. L.H.Hardy. Hon.T.C.Agar-Robartes. H.H.Fletcher. H.R.Pape. E.M.Scott-Mackirdy. R.G.Leigh. Photograph numbered LAN.PH.5214 as all photographs have individual PH numbers. Platinum print on supporting mount board with off-white facing paper. The supporting mount is glued to a dark grey window mount. The print has been coloured with watercolours. The mount has also been captioned with watercolours. The frame is stained oak with a gilt slip. There is a wooden backing board in two pieces. This is held by nails and there is a piece of dark brown paper across the back of the frame, glued at the edges. There is a paper label for Gillman and Co stuck to the paper. "Hon. J.C. Robartes Pack" is hand written on this.

Provenance

A gift from the Hon. Gerald Agar-Robartes, later 7th Viscount Clifden, 1883-1966, who gave Lanhydrock to the National Trust in 1953 and continued to live there with his sisters, Everilda and Violet, until his death in 1966.
