Summary
(Folio 9, recto, upper print) Madonna of the Pesaro family. classical setting with the Virgin sitting on a platform on the right, St Peter sitting below with an open book, and the donors led by Jacopo and Benedetto Pesaro kneeling on either side; on the left, a knight carrying a banner, and a turbaned Turk; on the right, St Francis and St Anthony of Padua; two putti lifting a cross on a cloud in top centre; in an arched design; plate from Patin's 'Tabellae selectae ac explicatae" (Padua, 1691), After Titian's painting in Santa Maria Gloriosa dei Frari, Venice.
Provenance
At Saltram by 1771 and thence by descent to Montagu Brownlow Parker (1878-1962), 5th Earl of Morley and given to NT as part of the Endowment following transfer in 1957.
