Summary
Marble, head of a classical woman, possibly Juno or Ceres, Italian School, 18th century. Head of a woman, after the antique, mounted on a marble volute socle, in white statuary marble on a scagliola column and base. Traditionally identified as Venus, but more likely to be Ceres or Juno, perhaps after the Juno Cesi (Capitoline Museums, Rome).
Provenance
At Saltram by 1957 and given to NT by Montagu Brownlow Parker (1878-1962), 5th Earl of Morley as part of the Endowment.
