Summary
A silver-mounted mahogany knife box, English, late 18th century, one of a pair. Of serpentine-fronted form, the sloped hinged cover inlaid to its underside with a star. Fitted to the interior with a slotted board for cutler. Mounted to the exterior with a small loop handle, a pierced escutcheon, and a shield engraved with a crest of a plume of feathers. On small shaped bracket feet.
