Summary
An upholstered armchair, English, circa 1870. With a curving, buttoned back and downswept arms. The seat raised on turned walnut front legs with brass and ceramic castors; the square-section rear legs outswept. Covered in later silk patterned with olive green stripes and sprays of flowers against a cream ground. The chair retaining its original decorative fringe. Marked with the initials 'WB' to both rear legs.
Provenance
Date and method of arrival at Saltram not recorded; but at Saltram by 1962 and part of the endowment given to the National Trust by Montagu Brownlow Parker (1878 - 1962), 5th Earl of Morley.
