Summary
A rosewood and ormolu-mounted bureau plat, or writing table, French, last half of the 19th century, in Louis XV style. The top lined with green leather tooled in gilt and with a moulded ormolu border cast with lotus-leaves and with cabochons at the corners. All above three drawers - the central drawer slightly inset - and veneered throughout in a parquetry pattern of rosewood and mahogany. Raised on moulded cabriole legs with cartouche, rocaille and foliate-cast mounts to the knees and feet.

Date of introduction to Saltram not recorded but at Saltram by 1951 and accepted by HM Treasury in lieu of full payment of Death Duty from the Executors of Edmund Robert Parker (1877 - 1951), 4th Earl of Morley.
