Summary
A mahogany and brass-mounted pedestal desk, English, mid-19th century. The top inset with gilt-tooled leather and fitted to its edge with a low brass gallery. The central drawer above a kneehole and flanked by a pair of short drawers. Each pedestal fitted with three graduated short drawers and with fluted corners; the flutes filled with slender foliate gilt brass mounts. The sides and rear of the pedestals paneled. Raised on bracket feet. One lock marked BARRON PATENT.
Provenance
Date of introduction to Saltram not recorded but at Saltram by 1951 and accepted by HM Treasury in lieu of full payment of Death Duty from the Executors of Edmund Robert Parker (1877 - 1951), 4th Earl of Morley.
