Summary
Dolls' house consisting of nine rooms, and bt fairly recent tradition associated with Whiteway, a house near Chudleigh in Devon which was built for John Parker, (later 1st Lord Boringdon) around 1770.The interior is fashionably furnished with fitted carpets, upholstered chairs and objet d'art. Most items appear to have been purchased from toy shops and others specifically for the house. Toys in the day nursery and other items were introduced when the dolls house formed part of the collection of Vivien Greene. The name painted on the pediment was also added when it formed part of Vivien Greene's collection. Apart from the inscription there are few, if any outward signs suggesting a connection with the red-brick building of Whiteway. At one time it was suggested it was made for Emily Katherine Parker, daughter of the 2nd Earl of Morley in about 1850, but this is also now thouight to be unlikely.
