Summary
Black painted cast iron coffee grinder in square section with sloping sides. The bowl-shaped funnel is in brass and has an ornate foot, with the grinder handle stem emerging from the centre of the bowl. The handle is metal and S-shaped and ends in a small turned wooden (box?) knob, with three rings on top and a groove just above the handle. The front of the body has the slot for the catch tray and immediately above is a very worn brass crest incorporating a shield with three geese, below a helmet surmounted by a bird (crow?) facing left and a flag flying right. The top and bottom both have a large 'No. 1' cast into them, the top has four screws to secure to the body and the base has two cast lugs, one either side. The base has a 21mm central hole.
