Summary
A vinyl and steel 'Kilta' armchair, one of a set of eight, Finnish, designed by Olli Mannermaa, circa 1950s, manufactured by Martela and retailed by Twentytwentyone, circa 2008, with cut-out to the base of the backrest, shaped armrests, on four chrome-finished tubular steel legs with ball-and-cup feet, the integral cushioned seat and chair upholstered in 'Legend Pure White' vinyl. Each chair with paper label to the underside printed 'Martela/ 12-2007' and with small fabric label woven 'Martela'. These chairs are replacements for eight chairs (NT 864341.1-.8) originally at The Homewood which were purchased by Patrick Gwynne in the 1960s. The original chairs were 'Executive' armchairs, 71 series, designed by Eero Saarinen, circa 1957.
Provenance
Purchased by the National Trust in 2008 to replace eight chairs at The Homewood.
