Summary
A fixed wooden double bed headboard combining bookshelf, bedside surface and cupboards, British, designed by Patrick Gwynne, circa 1930s, built and installed by Avanti Architects, circa 2000, the central headboard with projecting lower section forming a shelf, the top of the headboard fitted with uplighters under a section of glass, the bedhead fitted with light switches and plug sockets, the central headboard flanked on either side by a unit containing a bookshelf above two cupboards. The master bedroom was originally designed for Patrick Gwynne's parents. After WWII, Gwynne converted it to an office for his architectural practice. In 2000 it was returned to Gwynne's design of a bedroom by Avanti Architects working for the National Trust.
