Summary
A glass, aluminium and steel dining table, British, designed by Patrick Gwynne, early 1960s, the circular table top made from grey-tinted glass with black backing below, the table top with a plated aluminium rim, the centre of the table top with detachable glass and aluminium discs, these can be removed and a Perspex bowl fitted into the well, this bowl was intended to be filled with flowers, this Perspex bowl is lit from beneath by hidden lights in three colours, these lights are fitted with dimmers which can be controlled by switches a the host's seat, the base which conceals the light fitments and wiring is formed of two spun aluminium sections, with a splayed base.
Provenance
The Homewood and some of its contents were given to the National Trust by Patrick Gwynne in 1999.
