Summary
A black-lacquered steel and ritigulle 'Nagasaki' chair, Paris, designed by Mathieu Matégot, circa 1951, the back rest and seat each formed of a curved ritigulle oval, with three tubular steel legs terminating in black plastic feet, the seat joined to the seat with small stirrup fastenings, the rear leg extending up past the seat and supporting the back rest.
Provenance
This chair was purchased in the late 1950s by the architect Patrick Gwynne, the designer of The Homewood. The Homewood and some of its contents were given to the National Trust by Patrick Gwynne in 1999.
