Summary
A teak chair, Danish, manufactured by France and Son, circa 1950s, the teak frame with plastic webbing to the seat and back, on four splayed and tapering brass-plated steel legs, the legs with a turned spiral pattern and terminating in small ball and cup feet, with two reproduction orange fabric covered cushions for seat and back. A small disc label applied to the top of the front seat rail marked with the France and Son logo of two opposing 'F's and with 'FRANCE & SON DENMARK' to the edge of the disc. The two reproduction cushions (NT 864572.1 & .2) were made by Pamela Langbridge, Surrey using materials supplied by Wemyss Weavecraft Ltd, Dundee, circa 2008. The original cushions are (NT 864568.1 & .2).
Provenance
This chair was purchased by the architect Patrick Gwynne, designer of The Homewood, circa 1950s. The Homewood and some of its contents were given to the National Trust by Patrick Gwynne in 1999.
