Summary
Navy blue and beige plush velvet satchel. Containing items relating to coronation of King Edward VII and Queen Alexandra 1902, and King George V and Queen Mary 1911. Lined with cream silk, two pockets tied with red ribbon. Fastened with blue satin ribbon. Includes note 'This case is made from a piece of the material which was used for the hangings on the walls of Westminster Abbey at the Coronation of King George V. It contains the service book and the book of the Ceremonies to be observed at the Coronation on 22nd June 1911. Copies of these books were presented to all Peers and Peeresses who attended the ceremony. There is also a book with a cover decorated by Marjorie Hervey (Mary 1915) which contains souvenirs of the Coronation of King George V. The two books for the coronation service of King Edward VII are also in this case. One book was prepared for 26th June 1902 but owing to King Edward's illness the ceremony was postponed till 9th August 1902 and the other book of the ceremonies was issued for that date'.
