Summary
One of four whip-ended salt spoons, sterling silver, by Leslie Durbin, London, 1968/9, copies of four 18th century spoons lost whilst on exhibition in Germany in 1965. Associated with salts of 1752/3 by Frederick Kandler (NT 852086). The spoon has a cast shallow shell bowl, a wavy stem and a forged whip end, bent over and coiled around the stem. Heraldry: None. Scratchweight: None.

Commissioned by the National Trust from Leslie Durbin in 1968 to replace that lost whilst on exhibition in Germany in 1965.

Reverse of stem: Hallmarks: maker’s mark ‘LGD’ in a rectangular punch with curved ends, date letter ‘n’, leopard’s head and lion passant.
