Summary
Portrait miniature, watercolour on ivory, Lady Katherine Mary Manners, Lady Forrester (1779-1829) by Thomas Marshall (1788 – 1874). c.1829. Oval. Head and shoulders portrait of a young woman, head and gaze turned to the left, wearing a black dess with white ruff, white beribboned hat tied under the chin. Grey eyes, dark hair, pale complexion. Reddish-brown curtain background.
Provenance
Part of the Bristol Collection. Acquired by the National Trust in 1956 under the auspices of the National Land Fund, later the National Heritage Memorial Fund. Probably through the sitter's niece, Lady Katherine Isabella Manners, who married in 1830 the 2nd MArquess of Bristol.
