Summary
Graphite and brown wash on paper, Lord William Hervey (1805-1850) and his brother Lord George Hervey (1803-1838) as Boys by Friedrich Rehberg (Hanover 1758 – Munich 1835). 1818. Two boys seated at table before fireplace. They are studying coins taken from a mount which lies on the table. the boy on the left is holding a quill pen poised over writing paper, the boy on the right holds a medal or coin in his left hand. A number of coins or medals lie on the table. Both boys have straight short hair. They wear cravats, waistcoats and jackets.
Provenance
Part of the Bristol Collection. Acquired by the National Trust in 1956 under the auspices of the National Land Fund, later the National Heritage Memorial Fund.
