Summary
Watercolour and pencil, on paper, Lord George Hervey (1803-1838) by Richard Dighton (London 1795 – London 1880). Full length drawing in side view, turned to his right. He is standing with his right foot forward, and his left hand in his trouser pocket. His right hand is forward, holding a cigar. He has short black hair growing forward, and a short black beard with side whiskers. He is wearing a black frock coat over black and white check trousers, and black boots with spurs. Signed in right-hand corner 'John Dighton'. (?) Inscribed on back 'born 25.1.1803, died 3.2.1838'.
Provenance
Part of the Bristol Collection. Acquired by the National Trust in 1956 under the auspices of the National Land Fund, later the National Heritage Memorial Fund.
