Summary
Letter case. Mahogany. Hinged locked lid. 6 leather topped sections. Top and bottom edges of exterior with stud pattern, 2 brass handles. Label inside lid 'Patent confidential letter case, invented and made only by W. Hancock, Upholsterer and Cabinet maker, Buttermarket, Bury St. Edmunds'.
Provenance
Part of the Bristol Collection. Acquired by the National Trust in 1956 under the auspices of the National Land Fund, later the National Heritage Memorial Fund.
