Summary
A mahogany, marble and ormolu mounted secretaire cabinet or secrétaire à abattant, probably supplied by Banting France & Co. via Jean-Pierre Feuillet, French circa 1830 The grey marble top above an overhanging frieze drawer and a hinged fall with an inset leather writing surface and fitted with a compartmented interior with drawers above a pair of cupboard doors. Flanked by turned columns with ormolu collars and a plinth base.
Provenance
Part of the Bristol Collection. Acquired by the National Trust in 1956 under the auspices of the National Land Fund, later the National Heritage Memorial Fund.
