Summary
An armchair from a suite of walnut and upholstered seat furniture, English circa 1860. Comprising of a two seat settee and a pair of armchairs, with turned legs and ceramic castors with a loose cover in cream cotton printed with pink roses. The set is designed to be joined together with two settees and two chairs using the hook and nails on the underside. There are pairs of holes and knobs on each to help with alignment. See May Berkouwer Reports 2010. Upholstered with chintz with a fine green (faded to blue)scrolled pattern on a white ground, edged with blue and white cord and blue gimp braid. The chair is quite small, upholstered with sprung seat and buttoned back.

Part of the Bristol Collection. Acquired by the National Trust in 1956 under the auspices of the National Land Fund, later the National Heritage Memorial Fund.
