Bronze sculpture, Seated Mercury by Giovanni Varlese (1888-1922), 1900. Bronze copy of 'Mercury' by G. Varlese, Naples. Mercury seated on a rock, wearing winged sandals but no helmet. The original, discovered in Herculaneum in 1758, is now in the Museo Nazionale, Naples.
