Summary
Pencil and brown wash heightened with white on paper, Foot of the Too-hing, or Two Peaks, at Le Nai (Province of Shen-si), by Thomas Allom (London 1804 - Barnes 1872), c. 1842. In a plain wood glazed frame with a card mount with wash borders. This watercolour was probably created in preparation for the book by Allom and G.N. Wright, China, in a series of Views, Displaying the Scenery, Architecture and Social Habits of that Ancient Empire, London, Fisher, Son, & Co., four vols., 1843, where the engraving after this scene appears in vol. 4 opposite p. 25.
