A black and white photograph mounted on photographers card. An elderly gentleman with beard and cane. Photographer - Maull & Co. 187A Piccadilly and 62 Cheapside. No. 102359C. Inscribed in pencil on reverse: " Sir Archdale Wilson" (3 Aug 1803 - 9 May 1874. Created Baronet 8 Jan 1858. Commanded British troops during siege of Delhi in 1857 during the Indian rebellion)
Provenance
Acquired by the National Trust in 1986 with the aid of bequests from E.L. Elliot, H. Ridler, D.E. Swiffen and Alice M. Weeks, grant-aid from the National Heritage Memorial Fund, the Countryside Commission and funds raised by the East Anglian Coast & Countryside Appeal, and an endowment from Mildred Cordeaux, a cousin of Thomas Upcher.
